What counts as a business day?
A business day is any weekday from Monday through Friday. Saturdays and Sundays are excluded. Public holidays are not excluded by this calculator unless you choose to subtract them yourself.
Why does 'business days from today' differ from 'days from today'?
Plain calendar days count every day of the week. Business days skip weekends, so 10 business days is roughly two weeks rather than ten days.
How is this used in contracts and payment terms?
Phrases like 'Net 30 business days' or 'respond within 5 business days' are computed exactly this way: count weekdays only, starting from the day after the trigger event.
